Opening with Energy

It’s such fun to kick off speeches with a relatable anecdote that relates to the topic and builds rapport with the audience.

A large fundraiser in Georgia kicked off their event with my keynote, The Unexpected Advantage: Compassionate Leadership in Action.

Celebrating sponsors

When appropriate, I acknowledge lead event sponsors from the stage.

A leadership summit in Louisiana brought me in for my keynote, You Got This:
Building Confidence and Empowerment in Negotiation.

In this video, I integrated a story about a lovely negotiation I’d had with the title sponsor years prior. The sponsor approached me after to say they were thrilled by the way I’d integrated storytelling to highlight their business.

Telling Stories with a purpose

A company that was hosting a client appreciation event in Connecticut started their event with my keynote, Let’s Get Real: Strategies to Lead with Authenticity and Connection.

As part of my speech, I shared my experience coming out as queer at the age of 37. In this excerpt, I shared a playful anecdote about my southern roots and commitment to using the word “y’all” in professional correspondence.
